Children and young adults perform their best when they feel empowered in their learning environment. This interactive site provides access to a variety of sources and information about what it means to be empowered, how to foster empowerment, and the struggles of students who are not being empowered through their school experiences. Major inhibitors include oppressions such as racism, sexism, homophobia, xenophobia, class differences, or religious persecution. In other words, we can view empowerment as the opposite of these things;
